The composite authors representing NPO Saturn’s technical direction have been awarded diplomas of the “Aerospace engineer of the year” competition

November 5, 2013, Rybinsk. – At the Moscow-based International trade center an awards ceremony took place celebrating the winners and runner-up’s of the “Aerospace engineer 2013” competition founded by the non-government partnership of the Union of Aerospace Engineers, the United Aircraft Corporation, the United Engine Corporation, the Russian Helicopters and the NOVIKOBANK joint-stock commercial bank. Following the results of the evaluation administered by an expert commission, the composite authors representing the technical direction of NPO Saturn were awarded diplomas for the development of low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for the prospective gas turbine engines.
In the category “The creation of a new prototype” a 2nd place diploma went to the composite design team of the NPO Saturn technical direction for the development of the high-pressure compressor for the engine powering the PAK FA (the prospective frontline aviation complex). In the category “The success in development of aerospace products and components (R&D bureau of the year)” an organization committee diploma also went to the composite design team of the NPO Saturn technical direction for the development of the fan-booster of the PD-14 prototype engine powering the new Russian MS-21 mid-range aircraft.
According to Pavel Chupin, head of NPO Saturn’s main design bureau, “the awards received at the “Aerospace engineer of the year 2012” competition show and prove the acknowledgement of NPO Saturn’s high level of competence in the field of development of the state-of-the-art compressors for gas turbine engines.”
 
NPO Saturn Research and Production Association (OJSC) is an engine-building company specialized in the design and development, production and after-market support of gas turbine engines for military and civil aviation, Navy boats and power-generating plants and gas-pumping units. The association is part of the All-Russian public organization The Union of mechanical engineers of Russia whereby the regional branch is headed by I. N. Fedorov, NPO Saturn CEO.
NPO Saturn is part of the United Engine Corporation (OJSC) and acts as the leader of the Civil Engines Division, a business unit of the UEC founded on 09.10.2012 as a result of integration of the following companies: NPO Saturn (OJSC), Aviadvigatel (OJSC), PMZ (OJSC), Metallist-PM (CJSC), Energetik-PM (OJSC), REMOS-PM (CJSC), Motoservis-PM (CJSC) and Zheleznodorozhnik-PM (CJSC).
 
 
The United Engine Corporation (OJSC) is a subsidiary of OBORONPROM UIC (OJSC). The UEC structure integrates over 85% of Russia’s leading companies specialized in the design and development, serial production and after-market support of gas turbine machinery, as well as the key enterprises - the industry’s integral players. One of the UEC’s prioritized fields of activity is the implementation of comprehensive programs of development of the companies in the industry by introducing the world-class new technologies.
 

OBORONPROM United Industrial Corporation (OJSC) is a multi-field machine-building group created in 2002. It is part of Rostec. The main fields of activity are helicopter building (the Russian Helicopters holding), engine building (the UEC holding) and other assets.
