PowerJet, a joint venture of UEC-Saturn PJSC and Safran Aircraft Engines, celebrates its 15th anniversary

Fifteen years ago on July 23, 2004 Safran Aircraft Engines (France) and UEC-Saturn (Rybinsk) founded the joint venture PowerJet the mission of which is to develop and promote on the market the integrated power plant system SaM146 designed for Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) regional aircraft. All the activities within PowerJet are split 50/50 between the partners, from design and development to production and aftersale service, including also marketing and sales.
For 15 years of operations PowerJet, through its parent companies, has done a huge amount of work related to SaM146 engine development, certification and series production startup. In 2010 SaM146 was certified by European (EASA) and Russian (IAC AR) aviation authorities. Over 400 engines have been manufactured since the launch of series production in 2010. These engines take into the sky aircraft of 15 operators not only in Russia but also in Mexico, Kazakhstan and Thailand.

Through a wide range of actions PowerJet endeavours to ensure that their customer service is flexible and targeted in accordance with the best world practices. These actions comprise the functioning of two centres for training of airlines' maintenance personnel as well as of a twenty-four hour centre of customer centre and a Web-portal.

PowerJet has set up a special pool of spare engines for uninterrupted operation of SSJ100 aircraft and a special stock of LRU, which allows prompt support of airlines.

Besides, PowerJet is extending its repair facilities in France and Russia as a response to airlines' needs in order to reduce the maintenance and repair lead time and to make sure it is respected. Currently over 20 engines can undergo a shop visit simalteniously.

PJSC "UEC-Saturn" is an engine-manufacturing company specialized in the design and development, production and after-market support of gas turbine engines for commercial aviation, power generation, gas compression and marine propulsion plants. UEC-Saturn is a part of United Engine Corporation. It is located in Rybinsk (Yaroslavl Region). UEC-Saturn is a member of Russia’s Mechanical Engineers Union, an All-Russian industrial association of employers. The Yaroslavl regional division of the All-Russian public organization “Russia’s Mechanical Engineers Union” is headed by Viktor A. Polyakov, Deputy General Director - Managing Director of UEC-Saturn.
