July 10, 2019, Rybinsk. – UEC-Saturn PJSC (part of United Engine Corporation, a Rostec State Corporation company) is exhibiting their achievements in gas turbine engine building within UEC's exposition on Rostec's stand during the ninth International Maritime Defence Show - 2019 (IMDS-2019) that has opened today. The business program of the UEC-Saturn delegation at IMDS-2019 comprises a number of meetings and negotiations.
The ninth IMDS-2019 is to take place in Saint-Petersburg on the united premises of the Lenexpo Exposition Complex and Sea Terminal quays from 10 to 14 July 2019. The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The Show scope embraces ship and vessel building, marine power plants, naval aviation, infrastructure of fleet basing and support, new materials and advanced technologies. The considerable area of the exhibition is occupied by ship machine building and marine instrument making companies as well as enterprises supplying shipboard equipment, electronic components, information technologies and rendering consulting, financial and insurance services. 353 IMDS-2019 participants are registered at the moment, 28 of them are foreign companies representing 19 countries.
UEC-Saturn PJSC develops, integrates and delivers marine gas turbine engines, power units and gas turbine generator sets for maritime fleet. The company covers the full life cycle of products: research and development, manufacturing and testing, marketing and sales, aftersale support, thus cooperating with a wide range of domestic enterprises. The product line of UEC-Saturn is composed of marine gas turbine engines of 4.4 to 20.2 mW, ship gas turbine (diesel - gas turbine) power units and a gas turbine electric generator.
UEC-Saturn is displaying four marine exhibits to IMDS-2019 visitors: an 8 mW ship gas turbine electric generator mockup featuring state-of-the-art behaviour, two marine gas turbine engine mockups which are baseline fourth-generation GTE (gas turbine engines) of the domestic marine power engineering as well as a model of the F.Ushakov assembly and testing facility for marine gas turbine units and engines. The commissioning of the latter became the most important element of the program consisting in building up entirely import-independent Russian production of ship gas turbine power plants.
The marine dual-fuel gas turbine electric generator SGTG-8 was developed by UEC-Saturn under contracts with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. The state testing was completed in 2014, the product is ready for series production. The documentation is approved by the Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping. SGTG-8 is the only Russian marine gas turbine electric generator operating on two types of fuel – fuel gas and diesel fuel. The switch from one type of fuel to another is automatic without GTE shutdown or load decrease. The SGTG-8 applications are as follows: power generation for boats, offshore structures, floating power stations and seaside industrial facilities.
The marine gas turbine engine M70FRU with a capacity of 12000 to 14 000 hp (8 mW) operates on diesel fuel and features high fuel efficiency. The efficiency at 14 000 hp is 36.6%, which is the highest for GTE of this power class. The engine is designed to be used in various power plants: gas turbine and diesel-gas turbine ones, power plants with partial electric propulsion and as an electrogenerator drive in gas turbine electric generators applied under marine climate conditions. The two modifications M70FRU-2 and M70FRU-R are based on this GTE.
The marine gas turbine engine of 27500 hp (20 mW) operates on diesel fuel and features high fuel efficiency. The efficiency at 27500 hp is 36.8 %. The engine has two modifications; the GTE served as a basis for the diesel-gas turbine unit M55R. The engine can also be used in various power plants: gas turbine and diesel-gas turbine ones, power plants with partial electric propulsion and as an electrogenerator drive in gas turbine electric generators applied under marine climate conditions.
The F.Ushakov assembly and testing facility put into operation in December 2017 is unique for Russia and is the key element of development, production, deliveries and repair of marine gas turbine engines and units. The first inter-authority tests of the GTE M70FRU-2 and the main gas turbine unit M35R-1 and qualification tests of the 27500 hp GTE for the diesel-gas turbine unit M55R were held here in 2018. Tests of the 27 500 ph GTE for the main gas turbine unit MA3 and the diesel-gas turbine unit M55R are scheduled for 2019 and are already in progress at the bench. The testing facility has an area where the final assembly of marine engines with a capacity under 25 mW takes place. Universal design and technology solutions applied during the designing of the facility make it possible to conduct out all types of tests of marine gas turbine engines and units with real operating conditions simulated.
