Site news 6.03.2014

March 6, 2014, Rybinsk. – Prospects of international collaboration and industrial transformation were reviewed by the board members of UEC’s Civil Engines division (CED).
The board session took place in Rybinsk at NPO Saturn under chairmanship of Ilya Fedorov, chairman of UEC’s Civil Engines division, UEC deputy CEO and NPO Saturn chief executive officer with the participation of Sergey Pavlinich, UEC deputy CEO and chief executive officers of Perm Motor Plant and Aviadvigatel Sergey Popov (CED vice-chairman) and Alexander Inozemtsev, and some other representatives of the Rybinsk- and Perm-based companies.
The main item on the agenda was a presentation made by Christel Gayet, NPO Saturn deputy CEO in charge of transformations and cross-border collaboration.
The representatives of the Perm-based companies and UEC were offered an in-depth presentation of NPO Saturn’s design and production facilities concluding that the intra-division collaboration would be increasing.
Besides, according to Ilya Fedorov, “in a few years’ time, the companies in the division would come to an even tighter interaction - emerging as a unified company - that is a trend observed in the engine-builders’ community.”
“What’s essential, is that we need to think about the future: what will be happening in three to four years from now.
The aircraft engine market, unfortunately, in not controlled by us, the global players being the US and French companies, - commented on the current situation Ilya Fedorov. – Therefore at this board’s session we talked not only about our internal cooperation but we also touched upon the external, cross-border collaboration, and exchanged opinions on what transformations we have to undergo to get in a position of a serious collaborator for the West. It is vital not only for Saturn which has already advanced quite considerably in international work-sharing thanks to the SaM146 product and which has been acknowledged as a strategic partner of Snecma but also for all the other companies in the division being cautious of the negative collaboration experience between our Perm colleagues and Pratt & Whitney.”
