December 31, 2013, Rybinsk. - NPO Saturn will take part in the implementation of a pilot project dubbed “Preparation of the workforce meeting the requirements of high-tech industries based on dual training.”
On December 30, 2013 the results of a competition between different regions dedicated to the preparation of the personnel based on dual training were summarized. The competition between the regions was one of the milestones in the implementation of the “Dual training” project roadmap approved in November 2013 by the Supervisory board of the Agency for strategic initiatives chaired by Russia’s President V.V. Putin. The competition between the regions was originally proposed by the Agency for strategic initiatives. 23 Russian regions had applied to participate in the contest. The competition’s panel of judges included the delegates from the ASI, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Labor and the Russian-German chamber of commerce. Following the competition results, the Yaroslavl region came in first and was chosen as the venue for the pilot project implementation.
The pilot project will be carried out by NPO Saturn and some other companies from the Gas turbine machinery and power engineering innovative territorial cluster located in the Yaroslavl region. The main goal pursued by the project is to establish a system of preparing highly qualified personnel to staff the companies within the cluster based on dual training. Dual training is a type of professional training whereby the practical part occurs at the workplace on the company’s shop floor while the theoretical part is given on the premises of the organization providing the training.

Over the past 10 years NPO Saturn has been undergoing a major technological upgrade; due to close interaction with a large number of German and Japanese machine tool manufacturers the company has been able to acquire important machining processes applicable to various types of materials thus having rendered the requirements to high-tech work stations even more demanding.

Thanks to the dual training system, the trainees from the Rybinsk vocational-economic school will be able to master their métier directly at the company thus acquiring the exact skills they would need in their further day-by-day operations.

The implementation of the said project will allow to copy and paste the best competences of the employees working for the company, a technological leader, to other companies, including the small-to-medium-sized companies in the cluster enabling them to become eligible for the outsourcing program carried out by Saturn.
