August 7, 2013, Rybinsk. – The XXVI (summer) NPO Saturn youth gathering took place on 2 - 4 August 2013 on the premises of a tent camp inside a pinewood forest on the banks of the Black River nearby Rybinsk.
The organizers of the event dedicated the XXVI youth gathering to the 50th anniversary of the first flight in space of the first astronaut woman Valentina Tereshkova and the Day of the Airborne troops which was showcased by the main athletic contest.
Addressing the participants of the XXVI (summer) youth gathering, Viktor Polyakov, NPO Saturn deputy CEO in charge of the development of production cooperation within the “Civil aviation engine” division wished both Saturn representatives and the guests of the gathering “a fair and uncompromised fight but at the same time an atmosphere of good will, love, strengthening of corporate spirit, great personal happiness and success in the tough engine-building business.”
During three days over 17 teams representing different directions of NPO Saturn, its subsidiaries, affiliates and partner-companies were competing in the creative, athletic and intellectual contests.
The representatives of Perm motor plant (PMZ) who were only spectators at the XXV (winter) anniversary youth gathering came to the Black River for the first time as full-fledged contestants. “Today we are not merely spectators, we are real participants of the Saturn youth gathering event”, - emphasized the leader of the PMZ youth council Stella Emir-Veli. – These are completely different vibes and an absolutely different drive. Here we’ve seen a format totally different from ours, different games, everything feels different here, but we are set to win anyway.”
Also, for the first time a team representing the Samara-based Kuznetsov company took part in the NPO Saturn youth gathering. The members of the team have shared their insight into the event: “It’s really cool to live in a tent in the middle of the woods, this makes us a team. First of all, we meet new people here, we interact, we learn something new about other cities and companies, we get some good rest, compete and, of course, we do hope to win.”
It is not the first time, that one of Saturn’s business partners and the general sponsor of the competition – The VTB Bank – sends its own team to participate in the youth gathering.
All the creative competitions revolved around the same theme. The athletic program of the event was quite overwhelming: a militarized rally race dubbed “The airborne troops day”, orientation, “The future cosmonauts” race, “Two balls” and “Water polo”. The toughest of all was the death march which had integrated several stages of the competition into one race: air-suspended and water passages, parapet throwing to climb up and go down. During this contest the teams demonstrated everything they had learned during the previous youth gatherings. For the first time the program of the summer gathering including a bike race in which the contestants showed their skill of handling the bike: going though a bridge and a board, zigzagging around the cones, etc.
Alexey Molchanyuk, NPO Saturn human resources director stated: “We do our best not to repeat what was done before. All the contests are brand new, maybe going by the same name but having a different content. A youth gathering is part of the Company’s corporate culture, a culmination of the youth life in the Company. Saturn is not only about intense work, it is also a venue for quality and intelligent leisure, a road to communication and pastime in the company of friends where everyone is positive and full of optimism.”
“The youth gatherings are commonly attended by active young people having the character of a fighter, - explained Yuriy Pautov, NPO Saturn first deputy director of human resources, deputy of the Rybinsk Municipal Council serving the electoral district №11. – Twice a year, the Company’s youth gathering opens its doors under the Russian flag. The young Saturn employees, having chosen their profession, connect their lives with Rybinsk. That’s why the NPO Saturn youth gathering is not only our corporate event, it is also a key event for the entire city.”
The results of the XXVI NPO Saturn youth gathering are the following:
I place – “The seventh continent” (NPO Saturn shop 7);
II place – “The successors”, Saturn – Gas turbines;
III place – “The SV-SHOW”.
The honorary prize of the event – the Andrey Savin Challenging Cup – went to “The seventh continent” team.
Following the good tradition, the organizers – the representatives of the NPO Saturn social programs department, the youth council, the sport center and the trade union together with the Yaroslavl regional representation of the union of machine builders of Russia and the business partner (general sponsor of the NPO Saturn youth gathering) the VTB Bank – have managed to ensure the highest level of organization and broad participation of people in the event.
