Under the aegis of Rostec State Corporation as part of the overall United Engine Corporation’s exposition, NPO Saturn took part in the XII International OIL & GAS 2013 show held in Moscow from 25 to 28 June 2013 at the Expocenter.
During the show, the UEC’s exhibition was visited by an impressive delegation of Gazprom OJSC headed by Alexander Shaikhutdinov, head of the Department for transportation, underground storage and utilization of gas. At the exhibition booth, a meeting of NPO Saturn and Saturn-Gas Turbines, the industrial gas turbine machinery producers participating in the Gazprom projects with the operators – the representatives of Gazprom-owned companies including the oil &gas sector’s companies, Gazprom VNIIGAS Ltd. and others took place. Talks were conducted on the current issues of operating gas turbines at different sites as well as regarding potential future mutually profitable collaboration with the companies representing different idustries, including EvroKhim.
After a series of discussions and visiting the UEC’s exposition, the head of the Gazprom delegation Alexander Shaikhutdinov noted: “I see some serious prospects for continued cooperation with NPO Saturn on the products which are of interest to us; we, at Gazprom, are in a position to continue considering all proposals of NPO Saturn and use them whenever possible. As to the quality of the equipment we receive from Saturn, it is close to being flawless. I hope this field of business, which is actively developing at the moment, will continue to progress. As for us, we are interested in buying high-quality, competitive and reliable products.”
Summarizing the results of the meeting with the delegation of Gazprom, Pavel Fetisov, NPO Saturn deputy CEO for industrial and marine gas turbine engines stated: “we expect quite a significant volume of orders with regard to power plants. I do hope this will allow Saturn to put one of its industrial and marine gas turbine engine product lines, i.e. lower-capacity power plants to medium-sized serial production. We are currently conducing project work and participate in calls for tenders for this type of machinery, in which we see particular interest of our potential customers.
Besides that meeting, another meeting between NPO Saturn and the representatives of the United Ship Corporation took place at the OIL & GAS 2013 show during which some issues of civil ship-building and prospects of mutually gratifying collaboration were discussed.
For the very first time in a specially dimmed room, all the visitors of the exhibition booth were demonstrated a unique exhibit – a civil dual-fuel E70/8RD gas turbine engine of marine application designed and manufactured by NPO Saturn using state-of-the-art interactive technologies, in particular, a multimedia 3D video-mapping technology. With help of three projectors a uniform image was simultaneously projected onto the exhibit and the screen which allowed to create a seamless simulation of the engine’s operation.
As a reminder, the E70/8RD gas turbine engine designed and developed by NPO Saturn under the contract signed with Russian Ministry of Industry and Commerce having a complete life duration of up to 100 thousand hours and 8 MW of power demonstrates excellent efficiency and improved weight-to-dimensions performance.
The dual-fuel E70/8RD gas turbine engine featuring an automatic switch from liquid (diesel) to gaseous fuel with no performance loss in the process is intended for use as part of the power plants operated by the oil & gas industry connected to the coastal line, the shelf area; it can potentially be used on drilling platforms, loading and unloading terminals, gas-liquefaction plants and floating power plants. Besides, the uniform E70/8RD gas turbine engine can be used as part of the vessels’ main power plants (gas carriers, high-speed passenger ferries, ice breakers, etc.).
It’s worth noting that the OIL & GAS 2013 show attended by approximately 1000 Russian and foreign companies serves as a great venue for meetings with potential customers and future partners, a perfect place for an exchange of opinions on the subject matter also fit for quick resolution of all sorts of issues and discussion of prospects of working together down the road.
