May 13, 2013, Rybinsk. – In the frame of a state contract signed between NPO Saturn and the Ministry of industry and commerce of the Russian Federation aimed at designing and mastering the baseline technologies for high-power gas-turbine power plants some actions are currently under development to create an advanced high-power gas-turbine power plant capitalizing on the experience accumulated in revenue service of the GTE-110 including the optimization of the operating mode and life extension of the engines. The prominent research institutes and the test base of Saturn are involved in the development program; the required calculations and experimental surveys have already been conducted, positive expert evaluation has been received.
Several of the designed actions allowing to improve in-service reliability of the combustion chamber, turbine as well as some engine dressing components, and also improve technical characteristics of the GTE-110 were implemented upon the decision of the customer – INTER RAO IES at the Ivanovo combined-cycle plant during the scheduled maintenance actions performed on the GTE-110 № 7 and № 4.
“At the moment, several actions aimed at improving reliability of the GTE-110 have been implemented at the Ivanovo-based combined-cycle plant – shared Alexander Ivanov, NPO Saturn high-power gas-turbine power plants program director, - that allow the customer to operate the power plants in accordance with the technical requirements. Today the customer perceives us as a partner interested in improving in-service reliability of the engines we’ve supplied, and we in turn shall continue working towards that end”.
In accordance with the scope of the government contract signed with the Ministry of industry and commerce of the Russian Federation, engineering solutions which will later be introduced in the advanced high-power gas-turbine power plant are tested on the components and parts of the GTE-110. Specific actions aimed at increasing the MTBMA intervals for the engines currently in service are under development and will subsequently be implemented.
The proposed improvements will continue to be introduced during the upcoming maintenance actions on the GTE-110 operating at the core of the Ivanovo-based combined-cycle plant.
