It was the day of the 96th anniversary of their founding when NPO SATURN JSC received their certificate to ISO 14001:2004 on October 25, 2012 from the hands of Ulyanova Svetlana, the Development Director of DQS Russia. The DQS and IQNet certificates were issued as proof of the compliance of the company’s environmental management system with the requirements of International Standard ISO 14001:2004.
NPO SATURN JSC is part of the «United Engine Building Corporation», which was created from the military-industrial complex «Oboronprom». It is one of the leading Russian enterprises and one of the top ten key innovation companies of Russia.
NPO SATURN JSC specializes in the development, manufacture and post-sale maintenance of gas turbine engines for military and civil aviation, navy ships, power generation, and gas compressor stations.
According to Vladimir Stogov, the Chief Engineer of NPO SATURN JSC, “the implementation of an integrated management system, including environmental (ISO 14001), occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001) can be considered as a strategic direction of the company. The same is true for social standard SA 8000, which is an additional aspect that provides a competitive advantage and ensures the company’s success in the future. For the time being, NPO SATURN JSC has created an effective environmental management system complying with ISO 14001 requirements. Certification of the company to BS OHSAS 18001 and SA 8000 is being planned for the years 2013 to 2015.
The Deputy Chief Engineer for occupational health and safety, Nikolay Zobov, expressed his “sincere gratitude to the management of DQS Russia, personally to Mr. Zalunaev and Mrs. Ulyanova, for the work done in 2012 which allowed us to obtain these international certificates for NPO SATURN JSC. I would also like to thank the auditors of DQS for their experience and knowledge passed on to us during the collaboration. Russia, which depends largely on exports of its natural resources, hopes that the aviation industry will be at the forefront of modernization in the country. The government plans to invest some € 42.5 billion ($ 55 billion) in aviation development by 2025, turning Russian plane builders into the "third power center of the global aviation industry," alongside Airbus and Boeing, and capturing 10 percent of the world market.
