The international salon ‘Engines-2012’ provides the real opportunity to demonstrate the latest achievements in the field of aerospace engine engineering, provides venue for business meetings and negotiations as well as for discussions on topical issues. 
Being an integral part of the salon exposition hosted by UIC Oboronprom and United Engine Corporation, NPO Saturn showcased a number of its cutting-edge developments among which the most attended exhibit was the SaM146 engine, a civil bypass turbofan engine designed and manufactured by NPO Saturn in close cooperation with the French company Snecma for powering the medium-haul regional jet of the new generation.
It’s worth noting that a few days before the exhibition, namely on April, 12th 2012 the SaM146 program had experienced an unprecedented historical event. NPO Saturn has emerged as the first company in Russia to have earned an EASA Production Organization Approval Certificate authorizing the company to independently manufacture civil aviation engines. This event puts NPO Saturn on the same line with the world’s leaders in gas-turbine machinery manufacture.
In the course of the Twelfth International Salon ‘Engines-2012’ the top managers of NPO Saturn conducted a series of meetings and business talks with the key suppliers and customers of the company’s products. The elaboration on the current issues of interacting with its partners, coming to terms of agreement on various matters will allow NPO Saturn to honor all its engagements with confidence in the future.
Following the long-standing tradition, the organizers of the ‘Engines’ international salon invite not only the seasoned professionals to take part in the Science and engineering congress but also the young scientists representing different companies in the aerospace industry. The agenda of this year’s congress included over ten presentations by the representatives of NPO Saturn’s technical direction. The participants of the workshops representing NPO Saturn strongly believe that the subjects they are speaking on are vital for the further development of the aviation engine industry in Russia.
The delegates of NPO Saturn demonstrated brilliant results at the International youth forum dubbed ‘The future of aviation belongs to the Russian youth’ held in the frame of the ‘Engines-2012’ salon. The young representatives of the technical direction of NPO Saturn presenting their works – Artem Korotygin, Sergey Bagrov and Kirill Pyayunin – have been awarded the medals of the winners and received memorable prizes for winning the first prize in the ‘Post-graduate students’ forum category.
Tallying up the results of the participation of NPO Saturn’s young specialists in the forums, the NPO Saturn general designer Yuri Shmotin stated: ‘I wouldn’t exclude that in the future some of them will become very well-known in the engine-building community both in Russia and in the world’.
