The Engineering center Gas-turbine technologies OJSC has now been registered. At this moment the company is undergoing corporate formalities to entitle its shareholders as follows: INTER RAO – 50% plus one share; ROSNANO – 40% minus one share and NPO Saturn - 10% of shares.

 

According to Ilya Fedorov, chief executive officer of NPO Saturn, ‘the purpose of creating an engineering center is to upgrade the operating performance of the GTD-110 engine to match the world class analogs in the same power range. The engine will be modernized and upgraded; we plan to develop a combustion chamber that would ensure the allowable emission of NОx being 50 mg/m3. The outcome of this upgrade will be the engine increased in-service reliability. Besides in the production of this engine we are going to use the nanostructured coating technology which will result in increasing the operability of the turbine hot section, expanding the life of the parts subjected to the most severe wear as well as of the engine as a whole. The GTD-110M will pave foundation for creating the Russian-made high-power combined cycle power plants’.

 

The comprehensive GTD-110M project work will last for 2,5 years while the funding of the entire scope of work amounts to 2,5 billion rubles.

 

A substantial volume of work is supposed to have been completed by the end of 2014: release of the design and production engineering documents, mastering and implementing of new production processes including industrial processes of nonostructed coating application; it is planned to have fabricated and tested the new upgraded design elements on a real engine including the completion of the first GTD-110M engine. The next stage of the comprehensive program development will be the creation of a serial production site for manufacturing this type of industrial turbine power plant.
