October, 7th 2011, Rybinsk. – Accumulated in-service operating time of the NPO Saturn GTD-6RM engines has reached its historic value - 1 000 000 hours.
In 2000 as a result of converting D-30KU/KP2 aircraft engines, NPO Saturn developed the GTD-6RM engine intended for operating as part of the GTA-6RM gas-turbine power unit having nominal rated power of 6 megawatts.
The GTD-6RM is manufactured using parts and sub-assemblies of the D-30KU/KP engines that have reached its designed life limits while meeting specified performance of the GTD-6RM engine allowing to maintain a competitive price of the finished product compared to competitor prices.
Depending on the customer-specified application of the GTA-6RM unit, the GTD-6RM is custom-made in various design configurations – for operating on gas or liquid fuel (natural gas, associated petroleum gas of varied composition, diesel fuel). The GTD-6RM engine is adapted for operating in different climatic conditions – from northern transpolar areas to tropical regions. The specified engine life equals 120000 hours, mean time between overhauls – 30000 hours.
Industrial operation of the GTD-6RM was started back in 2002 as part of the GTES-12 on the territory of NPO Saturn.
In 2003 the company passed certification and interdepartmental tests of the GTA-6RM power unit equipped with the GTD-6RM engine having received a certificate of compliance № РОСС RU. МХ04. В00031 and a certificate of interdepartmental test campaign completion dated 04.12.2003. In 2004 the design documents for the GTD-6RM engine were assigned the letter А authorizing its serial production.
To date NPO Saturn has produced 66 GTD-6RM engines of various design configurations. As of today the company has delivered the power equipment to a large number of Russian regions: Zelenograd, Naryan-Mar, Omsk, Surgut, Moscow Region, Ivanovo Region, Ryazan Region, Smolensk Region, Volgograd Region, Rostov Region, Vologda Region, Kaliningrad Region, the Republic of Komi and others.
In September 2011 the accumulated in-service operating time of the NPO Saturn GTD-6RM engines reached its historic value - 1 000 000 hours.
